Designing A Small Apartment
Everybody dreams about huge apartments or houses with many rooms, a lot of space and big potential.
But, unfortunately not everyone can afford such luxury. So what shall one do, if he/she has a small apartment and few possibilities?
Well, there’s always a way out. You can always turn a small apartment into a cozy and comfortable place to live in. The only thing you have to do is use the space correctly and efficiently.
For that aim you can turn to some simple tricks to make your apartment look bigger:
- Light is the most essential detail while trying to create a spacy home. You can use natural daylight, of course. If you have the possibility, replace the windows. Instead of having a row of small windows with heavy frames, choose a large window, which has minimal framing and lets more light in.
- Apply light and even cold colors in the room design, like light blue or green.
- Transparent and reflecting surfaces create a visual impression that the space is larger. Try to hang more home mirrors on the walls or on furniture and buy, for example, a glass table for the room. Glass lets you see through and doesn’t hide the space behind it.
- Pick low-seated furniture. As with the glass, high and heavy furniture can close half of the space. You have to think not only about saving space horizontally, but also vertically.
- Avoid having too much stuff in the apartment. Disguise small items so they’re not easily seen–in a drawer or on a shelf.
- Use big items. Instead of a couple of small pieces of furniture, choose a big one. For example, pick a full sofa instead of three chairs.
- Move the furniture out of the way. The most unpleasant thing about a small apartment is when you have no place to turn around or to pass. Fit the large pieces of furniture into the corners.
One more piece of advice–love the place you live in. Nothing is more comfortable and beautiful than your home, if you really love it!
