We can live for a month without food and for a week without water but without air we cannot live even for an hour. Air controls every movement, every cell and every single breath of our body.
Air pollution can exist not only outdoors but also indoors. An example of indoor pollution is a musty odor. Many houses and buildings, especially those with poor ventilation, old houses with basements or houses with high humidity already suffer from this problem.
Musty odor is a sign indicating the existence or the appearance of mold. So if you want to get rid of the musty odor you should first of all get rid of the cause. Mold is an annoying manifestation comprising different fungi which in their turn spread and propagate very quickly.
Humidity, dampness and water leaks are favorable conditions for the growth of mold. One of the peculiarities of mold is that it can appear on all organic materials and fabrics including wood, organic ceiling tiles, cloth and paper. All these fabrics can be victim of fungi. Usually mold becomes visible to the human eye when it is mature enough.
Musty odor sticks to clothing, skin, furniture and even to food. Very often people living in this unhealthy atmosphere and breathing the infected air become so used to it that they cannot smell it. This is a sort of adaptation to odors. Mold absorbs and digests everything in its way. Musty odor is not a trifle, it is hazardous to your health and can cause respiratory and allergic diseases like chronic allergy, bronchial asthma or sinus disease.
Keep closets, basements and bathrooms as dry as possible and use a ventilation system to remove the musty odor.
