Natural Hardwood Flooring Needs Gentle Care

Natural Hardwood Flooring Needs Gentle CareFlooring covers a huge surface of your house, thus it influences the interior design significantly. Natural flooring is usually preferred by most of us, so let’s see what advantages and disadvantages it has.

Most people love natural flooring because it looks original and feels very comfortable. Among the main advantages of natural hardwood flooring I can mention is its durability. Arguably no other flooring material is as durable as wood.

However, people sometimes don’t realize how much care natural flooring needs. Wood floors get worn quickly compared to laminate alternatives. Therefore, they need to be regularly sanded and recoated, usually every 6-18 months. This is especially true for those spaces that have higher traffic, such as the kitchen, hall and the living room.

Wood floors should be cleaned regularly and gently with a soft broom. Spilled food and water should be wiped off immediately, because wood quickly absorbs liquids and becomes ruined. Before using floor cleaning products make sure you read the manufacturer’s directions for use carefully to verify whether they are suitable for natural flooring.

If you are ready to install natural hardwood flooring, then you’ll need to know how to choose the right one for your house.

Your choice of wood flooring should depend on where in the home you want it installed. For example, if you would like to install wood flooring in the kitchen you should avoid light-colored floors, because of the high traffic and dirt.

For living rooms or bedrooms the color of wood flooring depends on the interior. If your furniture is dark you might want to choose dark flooring. Bear in mind that dark colors make the space appear smaller.

The types of hardwood floors mainly are prefinished and unfinished. Unfinished ones are convenient if you haven’t finished remodeling your home and have not decided upon the color of your flooring. You can install it for a while and go ahead with finishing them later on. Besides, unfinished ones need to be sanded and coated, so you will have a plenty of work to do. Prefinished ones are very convenient–they come stained, sanded and coated. Just install them and enjoy.

Install natural hardwood floors for your comfort and take proper care of them for a long-lasting shine.
