Your Own Art Gallery
What is a wall? A wall is a potential background for hanging something. No matter what color it is, and what height or width it has, it’s always possible to hang something on it.
And what is the best thing to hang on a wall? Of course, a painting.
Paintings are a great way to reflect your style in your house and to create the very mood and atmosphere that expresses your individuality.
What can tell more about a person than his room? A room can say everything–if the owner is tidy or messy, if he likes photography or beaux arts, light or nature–anything you want to know is hidden inside the walls of his/her room.
So, if you want to express yourself and your personality through the paintings of your room, figure out what style of art you like the most and then set yourself off in search of the right painting(s). Of course, buying an original painting would cost you a fortune, but the reproductions of the same canvases are much cheaper and may even look better in your room.
You can choose between different styles:
- Abstractionism. This is more typical of people who are not very orderly, maybe a little bit messy–and with their head in the clouds. You can choose a painting by Kandinsky or Fernand Leger.
- Cubism. If your room contains many squared objects, cubes or furniture with straight angles, you should modify it with these kinds of paintings. The representatives of this style are Henri Matisse, Picasso and Georges Braque.
- Minimalism. If your room is comparatively big and your furniture is basic in style, and if the colors of the walls are plain, the two-three colored paintings of Mark Rothko will perfectly fit the decor of your apartment.
- Renaissance. Renaissance paintings can be beautiful and reproductions won’t cost you that much, but the furniture that typically matches this style can potentially cost you a lot of money. And if you don’t know that yet, I’ll tell you–antique furniture styles are very expensive. But, of course, if you want to splurge, then go for it! Though the atmosphere created by this style can be rather heavy and annoying after some period of time.
- Impressionism. This is the style full of light. Without light this art wouldn’t be what it is, so your room has to accomodate. A lot of light, big glass doors and windows, warm colors and the impression made by your room will always draw people to your house. Painters of this period include Manet, Monet, Renoir and Van Gogh.
So, if you are crazy about art, choose YOUR painting and make your room look even more YOURS!
