Some Ocean Flavor To Your Interior
Why pay hundreds of dollars on your home interior, when you can do it all yourself spending very little money or not at all?
Whenever you go to the sea, bring home some natural souvenirs like shells and sand. You will be able to make a nice home interior decoration out of them and give your bathroom, for example, an ocean theme.
Shells are very interesting things that you can use everywhere for decorative purposes. For example you can put candles into them. Since they’re not so big, you can have lots of them on the shelves and on the sides of the bathtub. Make sure the candles have a fresh scent of the ocean. Whenever you take a bath, you’ll feel like you are on a beach.
You can also get some glass vases and put a lot of different sized shells and corals into them. This sounds very simple, but looks very nice and exotic. You can also add some water and put tropical flowers in them like orchids and dahlias.
One of my favorite decorations that I made myself is in my bedroom. It’s a big and simple glass vase that contains white and soft sand from Daytona Beach, Florida, shells from Cape May, New Jersey, and a small cocktail umbrella from Hyannis, Cape Cod. Underneath it I placed a hand towel as a little beach towel. Whenever I look at it, I feel like I have the three beaches right in my bedroom.
My sister has another do-it-yourself decoration in her bedroom, with a vase containing sand and shells from Laguna Beach, California and a bottle with a letter inside.
You can find these kinds of home decorations in every interior store, but the most fun is to do them yourself. Use your imagination–focus on one color or build a scene with many shells, corals, sand and whatever you associate with the ocean.
