Retro Still In Fashion
Fashion always repeats itself, and things that were fashionable 30 years ago come back at some point. That’s why today retro style is in fashion again.
Do you want to have a retro interior design? If so, here are several tips you can use when you start planning your retro house.
- Start with the colors. Retro colors are usually very bright. Try to work with colors like turquoise, mint green, avocado green, cherry red, sunshine yellow and blue. Combine two or three of these colors. Cherry red will look thrilling in combination with turquoise and mint green. Paint striped patterns or stylized flowers on your walls. Remember that they should look a little abstract.
- Now move on to the furniture. It would look very retro if the pieces of furniture are in different shapes. Boomerang-shaped objects, especially tables and chairs, are very popular. If you have some free time you can even try and make them yourself.
- Bubble chairs will look great in your retro interior. Besides, they are very comfortable, especially the hanging ones.
- The number one retro decorative item is vinyl records. You can frame them and hang them on the walls. You can even ask your parents and grandparents if they have a phonograph. Even if it doesn’t work it will serve as a great decoration. You’ll just need to clean it up and find an eye-popping place for it.
- You can also add some retro posters. If you like Elvis Presley’s music, feel free to hang the best posters of him all over the house.
- Get several lava lamps. They are not good for lighting but definitely look cool in the dark.
- Get a brightly colored shag carpet, like juicy orange or red.
- Flea markets and antique shops are the best places for “retro shopping.”
And finally, remember that the main secret of creating a retro home interior is your creativity. Even very ordinary and modern-looking items can look retro if you choose the right color and match it with the rest of the interior.
